Puerto Rican Sports Betting

Sports betting, including wagering on traditional sports, eSports and fantasy sports, was authorized in 2019 under HR 2038 and the Government of Puerto Rico Gaming Commission Act. The law permits both land-based and online sports betting, but prohibits bets on amateur sports, and assigns regulatory oversight to the Gaming Commission.

Under this framework, licensed casinos, racetracks, offtrack betting locations and other approved premises may act as sports betting locations, and online and mobile sportsbooks can accept bets from players located in Puerto Rico, subject to age verification, responsible gaming, AML and technical standards established by the Commission’s regulations.
